BLOOMINGTON — The Monroe Fire Protection District is inviting the public to a free Community Cookout on Saturday, August 23, 2025. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at MFD Station 21, located at 9094 South Strain Ridge Road.
The family-friendly event will feature a variety of activities for all ages, including food, bounce houses, a dunk tank, and fire trucks. Food, such as hamburgers and hot dogs, will be served between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Attendees will also have the opportunity to take tours of the station.
In addition to the festivities, the Monroe Fire Volunteer Association will be collecting non-perishable food items for local food pantries and accepting donations to help with the event’s costs.
A special pinning and promotion ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. to honor MFD members who have completed their probationary year as a firefighter and those who have been promoted in 2025.
