BEDFORD – Pop superstar Taylor Swift will release The Life of a Showgirl on October 3, her first new album in more than a year. The 12-track project was announced on August 12 during a surprise appearance on the New Heights podcast hosted by her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and his brother Jason.

Local Taylor Swift fans, affectionately named “Swifties,” are embracing the new album, and excitement is growing.
Alyssa Avera of Bedford shared her anticipation for the new album. “I think what makes this album so exciting is just how Taylor is so incredibly smart. The way she orchestrates “Easter eggs” for her fan base to try to put the pieces together themselves before big announcements makes it so much more exciting when we finally get the details! She’s been leaving hints for so long now that it’s fun to finally know what’s coming.” Her sister, Emma Holmes, shared her thoughts as well. “Taylor has truly transformed the music industry. Her latest album, which she’s described as something she wanted to be just as proud of as the Eras Tour, has sparked an overwhelming sense of excitement among her fans. What sets Taylor apart is the deep connection she fosters with her audience: through her concerts, hidden Easter eggs, her journey to reclaim her masters, and countless other creative ways she includes us in her story. This level of love, engagement, and authenticity is what makes her fandom so passionate and loyal. It’s not just about the music, it’s about the experience she creates around it. That’s why every new release from Taylor, including this album, feels like an event; something truly special that brings us all together.”

Former Salem resident, 17-year-old Swiftie Grace Baker, offered her thoughts. “Taylor’s music has been the soundtrack to my life for years. Her words have given me courage, comfort, and a sense of being understood. This new album feels like another letter from an old friend, and I can’t wait to see how it changes me all over again.”
Baker has made her own shirt with the album, as well as selling her own car charms for $13, the signature number of Taylor Swift.

The release could mean a bump in sales for vinyl and CD copies, which often sell out in the first week. The Bedford Public Library has shared that Hoopla has teased that the app will carry the album.
Swift has sold more than 200 million records worldwide and recently wrapped up her record-breaking Eras Tour. Fans will be able to stream The Life of a Showgirl on all major platforms or buy physical copies from local retailers beginning October 3.
