1,400-pound cheese sculpture to be unveiled at Indiana State Fair

INDIANAPOLIS – A massive 1,400-pound cheese sculpture will be unveiled tomorrow at the Indiana State Fair, an annual tradition that draws thousands of fairgoers. The American Dairy Association Indiana Inc. is set to reveal the edible masterpiece, crafted from a mix of yellow and white cheddar cheeses, at noon on Wednesday, August 6.

Renowned food artist Sarah Kaufmann

Renowned food artist Sarah Kaufmann, known as the “Cheese Lady,” meticulously hand-carved the sculpture, which will be on display in the Agriculture Horticulture Building throughout the fair, which runs until Sunday, August 17. The cheddar cheese used for the sculpture was donated by Pace Dairy in Crawfordsville.

Fairgoers who want to learn more about the sculpture and the dairy industry can speak with representatives from the American Dairy Association Indiana and sculptor Sarah Kaufmann, who will be available for interviews at the unveiling.

After the fair concludes, the sculpture won’t go to waste. It will be transported to BioTown Ag to be transformed into energy, continuing its life cycle in a sustainable way.
