ODON – More than 130 college students from across the nation gained firsthand experience with career opportunities and life in Southern Indiana this summer through the 2025 WestGate Summer Intern Program. The initiative, sponsored by the National Security Technology Accelerator (NSTXL) in collaboration with WestGate Academy, aimed to introduce students to the burgeoning defense and tech industries in the region while showcasing the local lifestyle.

Throughout the summer, interns representing over 22 universities participated in professional development sessions and activities with key organizations such as NSWC Crane, NSA Crane, and Crane Army Ammunition Activity. Discussion topics spanned a wide range, including national security missions, hypersonics, microelectronics, and general career development.
Beyond professional growth, the program also allowed interns to experience the recreational offerings of the area. Activities included kayaking, a trip to Holiday World, bowling nights, and various networking events.
Organizers have expressed their intent to bring the program back next summer, with continued support from partners like NSWC Crane and the WestGate@Crane Technology Park.
