INDIANA– The Indiana Community Action Poverty Institute is inviting Hoosiers to get more involved in state and federal policy-making by participating in a special Summer of Action challenge. The new five-week program, which begins on Wednesday, August 27, is designed to help citizens better understand budget changes and empower them to make their voices heard.

This initiative is an extension of the institute’s successful Get IN-VOLVED series and is open to both returning participants and new members of the community.
“Make 2025 the year you get more IN-VOLVED in democracy and political decision-making,” the institute announced. “We’re back with a new five-week challenge this summer that’s specially designed to help you understand all the news happening around federal and state budget changes.”
The program is structured as a series of weekly challenges:
- Mini-Lessons: Each Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. EDT, participants will join a 15-minute mini-lesson on Zoom, led by #TeamInstitute staff members. Recordings will be provided for those unable to attend live.
- Weekly Challenges: A new challenge will be assigned each week to equip participants with new information about policymakers or new skills for engaging in advocacy.
- Participation and Prizes: Participants complete the challenge by answering a set of questions in an online form by the following Wednesday. Each completed challenge earns an entry into a weekly drawing for a $50 gift card.
The Zoom sessions also offer a valuable opportunity for attendees to ask questions and connect with others who are interested in civic engagement. The challenge is issue-neutral, welcoming anyone passionate about any topic to learn skills that can be applied to their specific interests.
