BEDFORD — Cody Bryant has resigned effective immediately from his positions as President of the Board and Deputy Chief of the Pleasant Run Fire Department, citing “dysfunction, backstabbing, egos, and flat-out ignorance” within the department.
In a scathing resignation letter addressed to department members, the Township Trustee, and the community, Bryant stated he refuses to “waste any more time trying to fix something that’s being actively torn apart from the inside.”
Bryant specifically referenced an incident where he claims “certain people were real quick to throw around accusations, demand drug tests, and try to ruin my name.” He asserts that when he agreed to take a drug test to clear his name, the opportunity was denied.

“You denied me the basic right to defend myself and wipe my name clean from the b**lsh** stories that a few individuals have spread throughout the community,” Bryant wrote, calling the situation “pathetic” and “incompetent.” He criticized the leadership for being “incapable of handling even the most basic situations” and expressed embarrassment that “a few key individuals have been allowed to run things into the ground.”
Bryant refrained from naming individuals “for now,” but warned, “If things keep going the way they are, I’ll get a lawyer and won’t hesitate to protect my name.”
He concluded by telling the department, “You all wanted control, and now you have it. I’m stepping back and watching it all play out. Good luck—you’re going to need every bit of it.”
You can read the letter below.
“To the Members of Pleasant Run Fire Department, the Township Trustee, and the Community,
Effective immediately, I resign as President of the Board and Deputy Chief of Pleasant Run Fire Department.
This department has turned into a complete circus, and I refuse to waste any more time trying to fix something that’s being actively torn apart from the inside. The dysfunction, the backstabbing, the egos, the flat-out ignorance—it’s all more than I care to deal with anymore.
Let’s not forget the latest stunt: certain people were real quick to throw around accusations, demand drug tests, and try to ruin my name. But when I agreed to take the test to clear it all up, you refused to give me that opportunity. You denied me the basic right to defend myself and wipe my name clean from the b**lsh** stories that a few individuals have spread throughout the community.
That’s not just pathetic—it’s incompetent. I’ve never seen leadership so incapable of handling even the most basic situations. And while this doesn’t apply to everyone, the fact that a few key individuals have been allowed to run things into the ground is embarrassing.
I’ll leave names out of this—for now. But don’t take my silence as weakness. If things keep going the way they are, I’ll get a lawyer and won’t hesitate to protect my name.
You all wanted control, and now you have it. I’m stepping back and watching it all play out. Good luck—you’re going to need every bit of it.
