MITCHELL – The Mitchell Persimmon Festival Committee has issued a warning to the public about a scam involving the free 2025 festival guides.
According to a notice from the committee, a person has been going around asking for money for the guides. The guides, which serve as a “passport” to the festival, are free to the public and should not be paid for. The committee has notified police about the scam.

The full-color guides, a collaboration between the committee and local media outlets WBIW, WQRK, and Lite FM, are available for pickup at various locations throughout southwest Indiana. They contain schedules, event highlights, vendor information, and other details.
The committee encourages attendees to grab a free copy of the guide to ensure they don’t miss any of the parades, concerts, or treats. For a current list of pickup locations and information on advertising for the 2026 guide, the public can visit wbiw.com/persimmon-festival-guide/.
