Family seeks cards for beloved former librarian Sandra Bartlett

BEDFORD – The family of Mrs. Sandra Bartlett, a cherished former librarian who dedicated over four decades to educating children in Lawrence County schools, is inviting her past students to send her cards, celebrating the profound impact she had on their lives.

Mrs. Bartlett, known for her deep love of children and reading, served as the librarian at Heltonville Elementary School from the fall of 1985 until its closure in May 2020. Her career in education began after she returned to school to pursue teaching once her youngest of 10 children was old enough for school.

After Heltonville Elementary closed, Mrs. Bartlett continued her commitment to students, working as an aide at Parkview Elementary from August 2020 until her retirement in May 2022. Throughout her extensive career, she fostered countless friendships with colleagues and, most importantly, touched the lives of generations of students who passed through her library doors.

“She had such a love for all the kids that passed through her library,” her granddaughter Maggie Wilson Pranger said. “This was such a huge part of her life, and she enjoys getting cards and seeing how much of an impact she had on people’s lives.”

The family notes that Mrs. Bartlett deeply cherishes the cards she has already received, and they hope this outreach will allow even more former students to connect and share their memories.

Those wishing to send cards to Mrs. Bartlett can mail items to her at 1404 Todd Lane, Heltonville, 47436.
