BEDFORD – Firefighters responded to a house fire at 618 W Street Tuesday morning, which is now under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Emergency crews were dispatched at 9:16 a.m.. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire and smoke. The blaze reportedly originated on the back porch of the house.
Kenneth Lamontage owned the house. The family was able to get out safely, but several family pets perished.
There were also reports of an explosion during the incident, which is believed to have possibly originated from an oxygen bottle. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
