INDIANA – For hunters eager for deer season, the summer months offer a prime opportunity to prepare by scouting for deer. Summer scouting is an excellent way to locate deer in your intended hunting area and can also be a great family outdoor activity.
Beyond familiar grounds, this period is ideal for exploring new hunting locations. Hunters are encouraged to utilize the DNR’s “Where To Hunt” map to identify potential new areas and then visit them before the fall season begins.

Additionally, setting up trail cameras can be an effective scouting method. When placing cameras in public hunting areas, hunters should remember to adhere to all relevant rules and regulations.
