BEDFORD – Community members are invited to spend a night under the stars to support women and children experiencing homelessness in Lawrence County. Becky’s Place, a local shelter providing hope and refuge to those in crisis, will host its “Sleep Out, Speak Out” event on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Bedford First Church of God.

The free overnight event aims to raise awareness about the challenges of homelessness and gather vital funds for Becky’s Place. Participants are encouraged to bring their sleeping bags and prepare to sleep outside in solidarity with those who lack stable housing. The event will run from 7:00 PM on Friday, August 1, until 7:00 AM on Saturday, August 2, rain or shine. Bathroom facilities will be available on-site.
Attendees can expect snacks, coffee, and refreshments to be provided throughout the evening. Organizers emphasize that whether individuals stay for the entire night or stop by, their presence will make a significant contribution to the cause.
A key component of the event is fundraising. The community is encouraged to create fundraising teams with churches, schools, businesses, or friend groups to collect donations for Becky’s Place. These efforts directly assist women and children in need.
For those wishing to make gifts from Donor-Advised Funds (DAF), IRAs, or stock, please contact Cheri Bush at cbush@archindy.org or 317-236-1411 for assistance.
If you have any questions regarding the “Sleep Out, Speak Out” event, please contact Lynnsie Hughes at 812-583-2628 or events@ccbin.org.
The event will be held at the Bedford First Church of God, located at 3131 16th St, Bedford, IN 47421. Becky’s Place wishes to thank the Bedford First Church of God for lending them the use of their lawn to allow them the opportunity to bring awareness to their cause. Organizers expressed gratitude for community support in providing hope and shelter to those who need it most.
