WASHINGTON – Daviess Community Hospital (DCH) is gearing up to host its annual Oncology Cookout Fundraiser, a beloved event dedicated to supporting local cancer patients, on Wednesday, August 13th. The cookout will take place in the hospital cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This donation-based event is a crucial fundraiser for the Oncology Patient Assistance Fund. This vital resource helps cancer patients in the community overcome various barriers to receiving necessary treatment. The fund aims to alleviate financial burdens and other challenges that can hinder a patient’s journey to recovery.
Attendees can look forward to a classic summer spread featuring delicious hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, and coleslaw, complemented by an array of tempting desserts. While there is no set fee for the meal, guests are encouraged to donate cash, by check, or, for hospital employees, through payroll deduction.
The success of the cookout is a testament to community collaboration, with dedicated hospital staff, enthusiastic community volunteers, and generous local partners all contributing their time and resources. Notably, Walmart and Thrivent are supporting the event, and the DCH Auxiliary will be providing a variety of homemade desserts, adding a personal touch to the meal.
