SHOALS—A severe storm struck the region overnight, causing extensive damage to Overlook Park in Shoals, Indiana, which is now temporarily closed to the public.
Town officials made the announcement early Thursday, citing safety concerns and ongoing recovery efforts as the primary reasons for the closure. According to the Town of Shoals, heavy equipment will be brought in to assist with debris removal once the saturated ground becomes stable enough to support it.
“We hope that everyone is safe following last night’s storm,” officials stated in a public post. “Clean-up efforts will commence as soon as possible.”
Volunteers have already stepped up to help, and the town expressed gratitude for those offering their services. However, residents are being urged to stay away from the park until further notice to avoid hazards from fallen debris and unstable terrain.
