MITCHELL – A full day of food, fun, and community involvement is on the schedule as Mitchell Parks and Recreation prepares to host its Chat and Chill event on Friday, June 20, at Mitchell City Park. The event, originally slated for earlier in the month on June 6, has been rescheduled and expanded to give residents of all ages an opportunity to enjoy the park and take part in shaping its future.
The event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., is free to attend and will feature local food trucks, youth contests, interactive activities, a ribbon cutting for new sports courts, and a night swim to wrap up the evening.

Attendees can look forward to a wide range of activities designed to bring the community together while showcasing recent park improvements.
Food Trucks (11 AM – 7 PM)
A variety of local favorites will be on hand throughout the afternoon, including 812 BBQ, Bubble Tea Barn, The Sno Shak LLC, and Blues Café.
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony (4 PM)
A formal dedication of the new basketball court and pickleball courts will take place at 4 p.m. with city officials, Mitchell Parks & Recreation staff, and members of the Greater Mitchell Chamber of Commerce in attendance.
Youth Activities (4:30 PM – 7 PM)
Young visitors can join in organized activities on the basketball court, including a 3-point contest. Prizes will be awarded to the winners in different age groups.
Project Playground Launch (5 PM – 8 PM)
Information will be available about the city’s upcoming Project Playground initiative. Adults can share input through surveys, and children can enjoy craft stations under the park shelter.
Night Swim (9 PM – 11 PM)
Weather permitting, the Mitchell Community Pool will host a night swim for families to enjoy under the stars.
