SULLIVAN CO. – Detectives from the Indiana State Police Putnamville Post are investigating the death of an inmate at the Sullivan County Jail, at the request of Sullivan County Sheriff Jason Bobbitt.
On Thursday, June 5, 2025, jail officers discovered an unresponsive inmate during routine cell checks. Jail staff immediately provided medical aid and called for emergency medical services, but the inmate was pronounced deceased.
An autopsy conducted Saturday indicated that the injuries were self-inflicted, and foul play is not suspected.
The Sullivan County Coroner’s Office has positively identified the deceased inmate as Brandon M. Houser, 37, of Sullivan.
The ongoing investigation is being led by Indiana State Police Detective Angie Hahn, with assistance from CSI Sgt. Tim Rader of the Putnamville State Police District.
