Bloomington Farmers’ Markets bloom with freshness, music, and community engagement

BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Community Farmers’ Markets are gearing up for a vibrant summer season, offering an abundance of fresh, locally sourced goods, live entertainment, and opportunities to connect with the community. From seasoned foodies to the youngest patrons, there’s something for everyone who values quality, transparency, and local connection in their food choices.

Saturdays at the Market: A Celebration of Local Goodness

The heart of local food remains at the Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market, where every item is hand-picked, homemade, or homegrown directly by the person selling it. This direct connection eliminates middlemen, ensuring peak-season produce, unique artisanal goods, and flavors that can only be found on a supermarket shelf.

Food enthusiasts will also be delighted to hear that a large haul of Queen Anne Cherries will be available this Saturday at Graber’s Produce (booth #C10), promising a taste of summer’s bounty.

This Saturday, market-goers are in for a special treat with the return of beloved local musicians Ken and Debbie Wilson. Starting at 9:00 a.m. on the FM Circular Stage, Ken and Debbie will captivate audiences with their vocals, harmonicas, keyboards, and guitars, both 6-string and 12-string. With over forty years of sharing their music, their repertoire spans classic and contemporary acoustic tunes from the sixties to the present day.

“Mayor’s Team at the Table” Connects Citizens with City Leaders

As part of the ongoing “Mayor’s Team at the Table” community outreach program, market attendees have a unique opportunity to engage directly with City of Bloomington government officials. This Saturday, City of Bloomington Corporation Counsel Margie Rice and City Attorney Audrey Brittingham will be greeting the public and answering questions from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Parking Lot Improvements Underway, Market Remains Open

Visitors are advised of ongoing improvements to the City Hall parking lot. The first phase, focused on replacing ADA ramps and repairing damaged curbs, is currently in progress. In two to three weeks, phase two will begin, including milling, paving, and restriping the asphalt. The good news? The Farmers’ Market will continue as usual with no interruptions. The City appreciates patience as it works to make the space safer and more accessible for all.
