Midwestern Engineers Inc. honored for Innovative Water Treatment in Poseyville

LOOGOOTEE—Midwestern Engineers Inc. has received a 2025 Engineering Excellence Merit Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies for its pioneering water infrastructure project in Poseyville. The project introduced Indiana’s first municipal low-waste ion exchange nitrate treatment system.

This groundbreaking system was designed to address high groundwater nitrate levels, a concern for infants and pregnant women in agricultural areas. The treatment system has been fully operational since July 2024 and consistently meets safe nitrate standards.

Established in 1959, Midwestern Engineers, known for its expertise in water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure across Indiana, collaborated closely with Poseyville officials to create a sustainable and easy-to-manage solution.
