LINTON – In the wake of Friday’s devastating tornado, Greene County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Roger Axe announced today that significant assistance remains available for affected residents. A multi-service center has been established to provide a centralized hub for aid and resources.
“Working with several agencies, we have established a multi-service center,” stated Axe. “People who need assistance with tree and debris removal and other items they may need should come to the Multi-Service Center at the former National Guard Armory at 2000 West State Road 54.”
The Multi-Service Center will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and will continue operating for the next few days to assist those in need. In addition to offering direct aid, the center, in collaboration with The United Way, will also accept material and financial donations.
Several key organizations, including the Red Cross and Baptist Disaster Relief of Indiana, will be present at the center to offer support.
Urgent material donations include bottled water, hygiene products, diapers, wipes, work gloves, and tarps. Financial contributions are also greatly appreciated to support recovery efforts.
Recognizing the emotional toll of such a traumatic event, post-disaster counseling and mental health services are being provided at the Linton Assembly of God, located at 1503 A Street NE, Linton. These services will be available Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. this week.
“If people are having trouble coping with the tornado, we have people ready to help,” Axe emphasized. “The quicker we can give help and assistance, the better the chance of the victims recovering completely.”
Greene County residents who sustained damage from the tornado are urged to report it by calling 211. A dedicated “Hotline” has been established to facilitate this reporting process.
