Indiana law restricts public funding and hosting of obscene performances

INDIANAA new Indiana law, H.E.A. 1014, has been signed into law as Public Law 218-2025 and will take effect on July 1, 2025. This legislation restricts governmental entities’ access to obscene performances.

Specifically, the new law prohibits governmental entities from organizing or hosting obscene performances. It also bars the use of public funds to finance such performances.

Furthermore, the law grants individuals the right to seek injunctive relief as a legal remedy in the event of a violation of this statute. This provision empowers citizens to take action to prevent or stop publicly funded or hosted obscene performances.
