INDIANA – Motorists in Indiana are seeing continued relief at the pump, with the average gasoline price falling by 13.1 cents per gallon in the last week. According to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,271 stations across the state, the average price today is $3.05 per gallon.
This downward trend means that Indiana’s average gas price is now 5.9 cents lower than a month ago and a substantial 53.1 cents cheaper than last year.
The national average for gasoline has also decreased, albeit at a slower pace, falling 4.2 cents per gallon to $3.08/g. Prices are down 8.6 cents from last month and 50.6 cents year-over-year.
Locally, GasBuddy price reports indicate a wide range in prices across Indiana. Yesterday, the cheapest gas station charged $2.66 per gallon, while the most expensive station charged $3.49 per gallon, a difference of 83.0 cents.
Diesel prices are also declining, with the national average dropping 2.8 cents last week to $3.473 per gallon, nearing its lowest point since 2021.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted that despite a recent increase in oil prices, refinery maintenance is wrapping up and increased output are contributing to the continued decline in gasoline prices nationwide. While minor fluctuations are possible heading into Memorial Day, De Haan anticipates prices will remain near their lowest seasonal levels in several years.
