Bloomington ISP honors fallen colleagues, Including trooper killed in Lawrence County

BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington District Troopers and Command Staff gathered on Wednesday, May 7th, to remember and honor the 49 Indiana State Police Troopers and Civilian Employees who have made the ultimate sacrifice since the agency’s inception in March 1933.

The 2025 district Memorial Service was a solemn occasion to pay tribute to their fallen colleagues.

Among those remembered was Trooper Robert C. Gillespie, who tragically lost his life in an automobile crash while responding to a call for assistance in Lawrence County, near Mitchell. Trooper Gillespie’s dedication and sacrifice were acknowledged during the service.

The annual Memorial Service underscores the enduring commitment and bravery of the men and women who have served and continue to serve the Indiana State Police. It highlights the risks they face in their dedication to protecting the citizens of Indiana. The Bloomington District’s remembrance is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made in the line of duty.
