BEDFORD – Lawrence County Commissioners have changed the rules for managing larger items, like equipment. These changes were made to update a policy from 2022. The commissioners adopted Resolution 2025-04, amending the county’s Capital Asset Policy.

According to County Attorney David Smith, the department utilizing the property is expressly responsible for property record maintenance on the specified day-to-day stewardship of personal property above the capitalization threshold of $10,000.00.
Items worth less than $10,000 will now be inventoried and tracked at the department level. The required data elements for this list include asset description, location, make, model, serial number, and other information that assists control or is deemed relevant.
The rest of the county’s original property management rules will remain the same.
The Commissioners felt these changes were necessary for managing the county’s resources better and made them effective immediately.
