BRAZIL—The Indiana Sheriff’s Youth Ranch has announced its permanent closure, citing a loss of state funding as the main contributing factor.

In a recent news release, the organization stated that eliminating a $48,000 annual state grant created an insurmountable financial challenge for staff to overcome through fundraising efforts each year.
The youth ranch operated as a leadership academy for young individuals aspiring to careers in law enforcement. It also provided support and resources for at-risk youth, young witnesses, and victims of crime.
The ranch’s property and equipment, furniture, and related accessories are scheduled to be auctioned off on May 31st. The closure marks the end of a program serving aspiring law enforcement officers and vulnerable youth in Indiana.
