WASHINGTON D.C. – Dr. Brett Seidle, a Lawrence County native and Senior Executive Service member in the U.S. Department of the Navy, has been appointed to perform the duties of the Under Secretary of the Navy. This appointment comes while Congress awaits confirmation of the official nominee for the position.

Seidle, who shared news of his new role on LinkedIn, brings extensive experience to the position. He previously served as the Acting Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development, and Acquisition (ASN RD&A) since January and as the principal civilian deputy to ASN RD&A before that.
In his new role, Seidle will oversee and develop policies for key areas, including defense and naval strategy, intelligence, space activities, and risk management, within the Department of the Navy.
Before his current roles, Seidle held leadership positions at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, including Technical Director, and served as the Executive Director of Naval Sea Systems Command’s Naval Surface and Undersea Warfare Centers. He also has private sector experience with General Motors, CMI-Precision Mold, and Alcoa. Seidle holds a doctorate in public policy from Indiana University.
