Multiple departments battle large turkey barn fire on East US 50

MONTGOMERY – Firefighters from multiple departments responded to a significant fire at a turkey barn located on East US Highway 50 on Tuesday afternoon. The initial call reporting flames in the attic with no individuals present came in around 3:38 p.m.

Upon arrival at the scene, fire crews encountered a rapidly growing blaze. Firefighters from Cannelburg Fire Department, Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department, Southeast Fire Department, Washington Township Fire Department, and several tanker trucks from neighboring fire departments.

Emergency management personnel were also dispatched to the location to provide a crucial supply of water for the firefighters working to extinguish the flames. By approximately 4:30 p.m., crews had achieved 90% containment of the fire, although the roof of the turkey barn had collapsed due to the blaze’s intensity.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The cause of the large fire remains under investigation by authorities.
