Hopefully raindrops won’t dampen spirits at Bloomington Farmers’ Market Saturday

BLOOMINGTON, IN – April 9, 2025 – Despite a drizzly start and chilly temperatures, the first day of the 2025 Bloomington Farmers’ Market season was met with warm smiles and a vibrant atmosphere this past Saturday. Undeterred market-goers were greeted by a wide array of fresh, locally sourced goods from dedicated vendors.

The market buzzed with activity as customers browsed tables laden with seasonal vegetables, quality meats, farm-fresh eggs, fragrant honey, colorful seasonal flowers, and various annual and perennial plants. Local food and beverage artisans were also on hand, offering tempting selections of freshly baked breads, refreshing drinks, delectable pastries, and savory dishes.

Fortunately, weather forecasts predict much warmer and sunnier conditions for the upcoming Saturday, promising an even more enjoyable market experience.

Market attendees are reminded that the hours have been adjusted for the 2025 season and are now 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

To help navigate the early season offerings, shoppers are encouraged to refer to the April placement map to locate their favorite vendors. Several Food and Beverage Artisans will have a (#1) or (#2) after their booth names. This designation indicates their alternating Saturday presence at the Market. For example, vendors marked #2 will be present on April 12th and April 26th. Please note that vendor maps will change in May.

Mayor’s Team at the Table

Bloomington Fire Department Chief Roger Kerr

The popular Mayor’s Team at the Table community outreach program continues this season, offering a valuable opportunity for market-goers to connect directly with the Mayor and various department heads from the City of Bloomington government. Most Saturday mornings, either the Mayor or a city department leader will be available at the Farmers’ Market to answer residents’ questions and discuss important city issues.

This coming Saturday, Bloomington Fire Department Chief Roger Kerr will be greeting the public at the Market between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. This is a fantastic chance for the community to interact with the Fire Chief and learn more about the department’s vital work.

Music at the Market

Adding to the lively atmosphere, the Market is pleased to welcome back the JDRD Combo, a talented local quartet formed by friends during their high school years.

The group, consisting of Nathaniel Jimenez on piano, Elvin Debruicker on saxophone, Max Rose on bass, and Elvin Deckard on drums, will perform three sets on the BCFM Circular Stage from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m., 10:15 to 11:00 a.m., and 11:15 to 12 noon.

Despite the initial weather, the Bloomington Farmers’ Market is off to a promising start. It showcases the best of local produce, artisan goods, and community spirit. Come down this Saturday for warmer weather, fantastic vendors, and engaging community interactions.
