MOORESVILLE– Indiana Conservation Officers have recovered the body of a Mooresville man who went missing Saturday morning after being pulled into a culvert while trying to clear debris from a pond.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the 12000 block of Lambert Court in Mooresville at approximately 8:36 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, for a water rescue.
Upon arriving at the scene, authorities learned that Bradley Justus, 59, of Mooresville, was attempting to clear debris near a culvert that was part of a neighborhood pond overflow. Tragically, the force of the floodwaters overwhelmed Justus, sucking him into the culvert. Hazardous water levels significantly hampered initial rescue efforts.
After an extensive search, rescue personnel were able to recover Mr. Justus’s body on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 11:54 a.m. The recovery was made by accessing the culvert pipe from above.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is continuing to investigate the incident.
Numerous agencies assisted in the search and recovery efforts, including the Mooresville Fire Department, Brown Township Fire Department, Mooresville Police Department, Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, Hendricks County Rescue Task Force, and the Mooresville Street Department.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by floodwaters and the importance of exercising extreme caution near waterways during periods of high water.
