ROCKPORT—If this crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal of raising $50,000 by May 15, 2025, Rockport will soon have more space for physical activity. If successful, the project led by the Association for A Better Rockport will receive a matching grant as part of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s (IHCDA) CreatINg Places program.

“We are excited by the proposal to develop new pickleball courts so that Rockport residents can reap the benefits of an active lifestyle,” said Matt Rayburn, Chief Real Estate Development Officer, IHCDA. “These courts will increase health, wellness,s, and social connection for everyone in the community.”
Funds from this campaign will be used to construct four new state-of-the-art pickleball courts, add fencing, and provide shaded seating areas.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring new pickleball courts to our community,” said Rockport Mayor Cathy Kirkpatrick. “This project reflects our commitment to enhancing the quality of life in Rockport by providing fun, active, and engaging recreation for residents of all ages. I can’t wait to see everyone out there enjoying the game!”
Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised more than $12.5 million in crowd-granting funds and an additional $10.6 million in matching IHCDA funds. The program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and local government units are eligible to apply. Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should it successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project.
