BLOOMINGTON– Monroe County CARES and the Monroe County Substance Use Disorder Awareness Commission (SUDAC) will host a virtual panel discussion, “Addiction: A Disease that Affects the Whole Family,” on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m.
The discussion will explore the far-reaching effects of addiction on individuals and their loved ones. Panelists will share their expertise on support systems, available resources, and current trends in research.
Featured speakers include:
- Cathy Greene, Al-Anon Representative
- Dr. Peter Finn, Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences, Indiana University
- Romana Volpp, Alateen/Al-Anon Advocate

Monroe County CARES, the Local Coordinating Council for the Governor’s Commission for a
Drug-Free Indiana provides annual grants to local agencies working to prevent and reduce
substance misuse. Organizations interested in applying for a 2025 CARES grant can contact

SUDAC assists Monroe County Government in gathering community data on substance use
disorder and organizing educational events throughout the year.
