Stars drop meets to Red Devils, Wildcats

JASPER – Jeffersonville and Jasper swept meets from Bedford North Lawrence during high school swimming action on Saturday.

In the boys meets, the Stars dropped a 117-59 decision to the Red Devils, while the Wildcats posted a 119-55 triumph. In the girls meet, Jeffersonville posted a 107-72 win, while Jasper recorded a 147-36 victory over BNL.

Top finishers for the Stars (who were missing four swimmers) in the boys meet included Oliver Brown (second in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.64 and third in the 100 free in 55.85), Logan Langley (third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.03), and the 200 free relay (Porter Brown, Carson Puckett, Lincoln Gabhart and Oliver Brown in 1:46.4).

In the girls meet, top finishers for BNL included Cookie King (third in the 100 butterfly in 1:06.02) and Ava Lipp (second in the 100 backstroke in 1:04.17).

“There was definitely a lot of fatigue today,” BNL coach Adam Young said. “So the fact we’re generally putting up decent times is promising. We still have a long way to go on some of the details, like turns and underwaters.”

BNL will visit Columbus East on Jan. 9.
