Martin County added to the list of burn bans

MARTIN CO. – Martin County immediately implemented a burn ban due to fire safety concerns.

The ban prohibits the following activities:

  1. Campfires and recreational fires, unless within a fire ring of at least 23 inches in diameter and 6 inches high.
  2. Open burning of any kind, except for grills fueled by charcoal briquettes or propane.
  3. The burning of debris, including construction or storm debris.
  4. Burn barrels used for open burning at residential structures.

Charcoal from grills must be fully extinguished before disposal. Firework use is limited to non-aerial devices.

Also under burn bans are Orange, Dubois, Gibson, Posey, Spencer, Switzerland, Vanderburg and Warrick Counties
