LAWRENCE CO. – Brenten Trueblood’s mother would like to personally share her love and gratitude after losing her son, Lawrence County Deputy Brenten Trueblood, in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, July 27.
Deputy Trueblood, 25, crashed his motorcycle on State Road 445 west of I-69 ramp. Officers responded to the accident at 11:10 p.m.

According to Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Camron Frye, Trueblood was traveling east on State Road 445 toward I-69 when he left the roadway for an unknown reason and came to a stop off the southwest portion of State Road 445 and the I-69 southbound ramp.
Trueblood was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, but despite life-saving efforts, he died from his injuries.
“There are no words to express our appreciation for Rachel Love, Jacob Fender, and Misty Ausman. The three individuals who rendered life-saving efforts to our Brenten after his accident and for being with him as he made his journey from this world into heaven,” said Brenten’s mother, Lakindra Harper. “We are relieved he was not alone, and he was in the presence of others who had the same heart he did to serve in public safety. You all will forever be heroes in our hearts. Thank you all for supporting our family through this difficult time and showing us how loved and cherished our boy was.”
Brenten was a loving son, father, loyal friend, and dedicated officer. He never met a stranger.
“Brenten brought a light to any room he entered and a smile to nearly everyone’s face,” she added. “It brings us comfort to see how many lives he touched not only as a police officer but as a friend.”
“Even in Brenten’s last hours here on earth, he was able to sit with KJ Mcwhorter upon meeting him for the first time and make an everlasting impact,” Harper added. “Brenten is an irreplaceable son and friend. He was as loyal as they come to the ones he truly loved and was always eager to help in any way he could. From being a listening ear to jumping in on projects, he was there.”
He was dedicated to his two daughters.
“Brenten was the best father to his two baby girls, Madelyn and Makinley,” Harper said. “Our prayer is that they never forget the unconditional love he showed them and his goofy personality that never failed to make them giggle… They were his world. We will talk about him often and remember him as the selfless and amazing daddy that he was and now, the guardian angel that he is.”
It is with utmost gratitude and love the family extends their appreciation to the community of Lawrence County.
“All who played a part, for the unconditional support shown to us during the unexpected and tragic passing of our son, brother, father, and Deputy Brenten Trueblood,” Harper added. “The outpour of love we felt as we brought Brenten home and through the days leading up to and after we laid him to rest has been nothing short of sympathetic and encouraging. Although we will mourn the loss of our beautiful and beloved Brenten for the rest of our days here on Earth, we find peace in knowing he is with Jesus in the most perfect place he can be. He is no longer suffering the worldly trials and tribulations we do. He feels no pain or sorrow and is free from all the world’s evil. He has won the ultimate prize of eternal life in Heaven. We are overwhelmed with joy that we will embrace him again someday when it is our turn to return home.”
Matthew 5:16: “Let your your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your father who is in heaven.”
Thank you, The Family of Brenten Trueblood.
