Man arrested after numerous calls reporting an erratic driver

BEDFORD – On Friday, May 5, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Captain Andy Blackburn attempted to stop a vehicle on State Road 37 near State Road 158 after Central Dispatch received several calls about an erratic driver.

The driver of the vehicle 25-year-old Gage Labis, of Bloomington, fled. After a short pursuit, Labis stopped then hen fled on foot. He was apprehended in a nearby parking lot.

Police say Labis was intoxicated. He was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, OWI with a blood alcohol content of 0.15 or above, driving while driver’s license suspended with a prior conviction, and resisting arrest by fleeing with a vehicle and on foot.

Bedford Police officers assisted in the apprehension of Labis.
