SEYMOUR — Schneck Medical Center has announced a major upgrade to its diagnostic services with the addition of the GE HealthCare SIGNA™ Artist MRI system, bringing state-of-the-art imaging technology to southern Indiana.

The new system represents Schneck’s ongoing commitment to investing in innovative medical tools that enhance diagnostic accuracy, streamline efficiency, and significantly improve patient comfort during procedures.
Designed with patient experience in mind, the SIGNA™ Artist features a spacious 70-centimeter wide-bore design, offering patients more room during scans. For many procedures, patients can now be positioned feet-first, greatly reducing anxiety and claustrophobic feelings. Additionally, the system incorporates flexible AIR™ coil technology—lightweight, blanket-like coils that conform to the patient’s body rather than the traditional rigid structures used in standard MRI equipment.

Beyond enhanced comfort, the scanner utilizes artificial intelligence–powered technology to deliver exceptional image clarity. These detailed, high-resolution images support physicians in making precise diagnoses and designing tailored treatment plans.
The advanced system also reduces overall scan times and simplifies exam setup, helping patients spend less time inside the scanner while streamlining workflow for medical staff.
“Schneck is committed to providing our community with access to advanced healthcare technology close to home,” said Rita Hollen, Director of Diagnostic Imaging and Laboratory at Schneck Medical Center. “The addition of the SIGNA Artist MRI system allows us to enhance patient comfort, improve efficiency, and deliver exceptional image quality that supports the best possible care decisions.”
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive tool critical for examining internal organs, soft tissues, muscles, and joints. It plays a key role in diagnosing neurological disorders, cardiovascular conditions, injuries, and other complex medical issues.
With the launch of the SIGNA™ Artist MRI, Schneck Medical Center continues to strengthen its comprehensive imaging department and provide high-caliber diagnostic care to the region.
