TRAFALGAR – Bedford North Lawrence swept past Owen Valley in the first round of the Class 3A volleyball sectional at Indian Creek on Thursday night.
The Stars (12-20) rolled to a 25-20, 25-13, 25-18 triumph for their first postseason victory since 2023. The Patriots bowed out of the tournament at 12-18.
Izzy Root totaled 11 kills and three blocks, Lily Mishler cracked 17 kills, and Adalynn Bailey added 28 assists.
”The girls played great,” BNL coach Aaron Wagoner said. “Service receive was good, the hitters found their lanes. Most importantly, they kept high energy and kept the ball in play.”
The Stars will face Northview (23-8 and the defending sectional champion) in the second semifinal on Saturday afternoon. Edgewood (17-14) will collide with Indian Creek (10-11) in the morning semifinal at 11 a.m. The final is scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m. The champion will battle the victor from the sectional at Shortridge in the one-game regional on Oct. 24.
