
Glen E. Hilderbrand, 78, of Bedford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at IU Health Bedford Hospital.
Born December 4, 1947, he was the son of Robert and Alice “Maxine” (Mikels) Hilderbrand. Glen married Rose McFadden on December 15, 1967. After graduating from Oolitic High School in 1966, Glen joined the United States Army. He proudly served from 1966 to 1969 and was stationed in Vietnam and South Korea, where he was awarded a Purple Heart. In 2005, Glen and Rose purchased Klaiber’s Sewing Center in Bloomington, where he repaired and serviced machines.
He cherished his family deeply and took great pride in the time spent with those he loved. He had a lifelong passion for hot rods and enjoyed cheering on the Indianapolis Colts, IU Sports, and NASCAR. He was a Trustee of Clearview Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the NSRA, and a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Rose of Bedford; a daughter, Deana (Jimmy) Banks of Bedford; son, Brad (Barbara) Hilderbrand of Seattle; grandchildren, Morgan (Patrick) Bauer, Riley (Ethan) Ridge, all of Bedford, and J.R. (Samantha) Banks of Franklin; great-grandchildren, Annie Bauer of Bedford, Benny Banks of Franklin, and Dallas Ridge of Bedford; a brother, Ernie (Maxine) Hilderbrand of Mississippi; Sisters-in-law Gerri (Bobby) Hughes, Gail (Mike) Sears; brother-in-law, Noble (Lorrie) McFadden; and several nieces and nephews. He also loved his cat, Hazel, who went by many colorful nicknames. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Nancy (Jerry) Meadows, and a brother, Bernard Hilderbrand.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 6th , at Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Judah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, October 5th, and from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday, all at Day & Carter Mortuary.
