Charles David Box, 74, of Bedford, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born July 25, 1952, in Mitchell, he was the son of Winford Perry and Valorie (Hardin) Box. He married Mary Gertrude Clem on July 5, 1980, and she preceded him in death on January 24, 2010.
Charles had worked in construction for many years and retired from Foamcraft, Inc. One of his favorite things to do was spend time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his children, Michelle (Anthony) Balentine of Oregon, John (Susan) Thomas of Florida, Debra (Hugh) Hagemier of Martinsville, and Jennifer Box of Martinsville; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and siblings, Mary Stevens of Mitchell, Lois (Floyd) Graves of Mitchell, and Jackie Box of Mitchell.
His parents; wife; grandson, Josh Conley; siblings, Chester Box, Betty Sue Schultz, and Jerry Box; and brother-in-law, Larry Stevens, preceded him in death.
Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, at Mitchell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
