BLOOMINGTON — A 61-year-old Bloomington man is in critical condition following a late-night motorcycle accident in southern Monroe County.
Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to emergency calls at approximately 10:17 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, regarding a single-vehicle collision near the intersection of South Fairfax Road and East Will Sowders Road, located just north of Lake Monroe.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered a crashed Harley-Davidson motorcycle and located the sole rider, who had sustained severe injuries. Emergency personnel provided immediate medical assistance before transporting the 61-year-old driver to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Preliminary evidence indicates no other vehicles were involved in the incident. The Monroe County Major Crash Investigation Team responded to process the scene, map the roadway, and determine the potential factors—such as speed, road conditions, or mechanical issues—that led to the crash.
