STATEHOUSE — State Sen. Eric Koch (R-Bedford) will serve on the Interim Study Committee on Courts and the Judiciary in preparation for the 2027 legislative session.
The committee annually reviews the caseload management of judges and makes recommendations as to whether the number of courts or judicial officials should be decreased.
“As we approach a budget session, these interim committees give us a great opportunity to study topics that will help us craft next year’s budget,” Koch said. “I always find reviewing the caseload management of judges in Indiana in the judiciary study committee to be very informative as we consider legislation for next session that could improve our justice system and make sure each jurisdiction is properly staffed relative to its needs.”
Legislators will meet during the fall months to discuss topics approved by the bipartisan Legislative Council, which is composed of 16 voting members – eight from the Senate and eight from the House of Representatives.
