MITCHELL — The Board of School Trustees for Mitchell Community Schools has announced two upcoming executive sessions scheduled for September 2026 at the district administration center.
Both non-public meetings will take place at the Mitchell Community Schools Administration Center, located at 441 North 8th Street in Mitchell. Under Indiana law, executive sessions are closed to the public to allow governing bodies to discuss specific confidential or strategic matters permitted by state statute.
Meeting Schedules and Agendas
- Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026 (5:00 p.m.): The board will convene to discuss records classified as confidential under state or federal statute, pursuant to Indiana Code § 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(7).
- Monday, Sept. 14, 2026 (Approximately 6:30 p.m.): The board will hold a second executive session immediately following its regular monthly public meeting, which is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. The subject of this session will be strategy discussions regarding collective bargaining, under Indiana Code § 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(2)(A). School officials noted the discussion will not include a meeting under Indiana Code § 20-29-6-7.

Executive sessions are regulated by Indiana’s Open Door Law (Indiana Code § 5-14-1.5), which requires public notice for closed meetings while strictly limiting discussions to specific statutory exceptions.
