BLOOMFIELD – Bedford North Lawrence survived a marathon five-set battle to bounce past Bloomfield 3-2 during high school volleyball action on Tuesday night.
The Stars battled back from back-to-back set losses midway through the match to clip the Cardinals 25-14, 18-25, 18-25, 25-11, 21-19 and record their second straight win.
”That fifth set stretched back and forth,” BNL coach Aaron Wagoner said. “We really have to learn how to push through a different style of play and take advantage of what the defense gives you. We struggled with finding the right attacks. We did come away with a win, but we still have a lot to work on.”
BNL took advantage of net play and service aces.
Lily Mishler totaled 14 kills and seven aces, Jenna Allen had 13 kills and four aces, and Izzy Root added 12 kills. Adalynn Bailey was a catalyst with 29 assists, 19 digs and seven aces, and Ellie Nubbie finished with 27 digs.
The Stars (2-1) will host Jennings County in their Hoosier Hills Conference opener on Thursday.
