Bartholomew County crash claims life of Seymour man

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY – This morning, just before 7:30 am, Troopers from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post and other first responders responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on State Road 11 near County Road 800 South in southern Bartholomew County. 

The initial investigation by Master Trooper Korry Clark indicated that a 2009 Pontiac G6 being driven by a 17-year-old Columbus, Indiana, girl was traveling northbound on State Road 11.  The Pontiac crossed the centerline into the path of a southbound 2020 Hyundai Sonata being driven by Aparicio Martin-Bartolome, age 18, Seymour, Indiana.  The vehicles collided nearly head-on in the southbound lane of State Road 11.

After the collision, both vehicles left the roadway before coming to rest.  The driver of the Pontiac was transported to an Indianapolis area hospital for treatment of serious injuries.  Martin-Bartolome was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment.  A 15-year-old juvenile passenger in the rear seat of Martin-Bartolome’s vehicle was transported to an Indianapolis area hospital for treatment.  Tragically, the front seat passenger in Martin-Bartolome’s vehicle, identified as Pascual Baltazar-Pascual, age 42, Seymour, sustained fatal injuries in the collision.  He was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office. 

The investigation by Trp. Clark and the Indiana State Police-Crash Reconstruction Team is ongoing.  Toxicology results are pending.

Baltazar-Pascual’s family has been notified.

The Indiana State Police was assisted by the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, Columbus Regional Hospital EMS, Columbus Fire Department, Columbus Township Fire and Rescue, and the Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office.
