Mark Alan Fields, 73, of Bedford, passed away on August 17, 2026, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born August 14, 1953, he was the son of Leonard M. and Esther M. (Bivins) Fields. Mark first married Rita Alcorn, and she preceded him in death. On October 14, 2023, Mark and Kathy Fulkerson were united in marriage.
Mark retired from Peabody Coal as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church of Bedford. He enjoyed farming and fishing, listening to music and going to concerts, and Florida. Family was very important to Mark. He would always say, “Oh, it will be okay. That is minor.” And it was!
Mark was the very best listener to everyone and the most positive person. He could build anything, do anything/find out how to do anything. Mark was the most respectful in everything he did.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Angela (Jason) Tritle, Shannon (Chris) Keith, Justin (Jessica) Fields, BJ (Christina) Fulkerson, and April Fulkerson-Lane; grandchildren, Brittany (Corbin) Worland, Kathryn (Braxton) Yeryar, Olivia Keith, Charlie Keith, Carter Fields, Patrick Fields, Cameron Lane, Grace Fulkerson, Clairann Lane, Gabe Fulkerson; one great-grandchild, Briggs Worland; brother, Michael “Tom” Fields.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Archie and Bob Fields, and a sister Carolyn Haws.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22nd, in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21st, at Day & Carter Mortuary.
