BEDFORD — The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department is transitioning to INjail, a statewide data and jail management software system designed to connect county facilities across Indiana under a single digital network.
The commissioner approved the move this morning.
Sheriff Greg Day said the software adoption comes at no cost to Lawrence County because it is state and federally funded.
Developed by the Indiana Office of Court Technology, INjail aims to modernize law enforcement operations by streamlining communications and closing critical data gaps between local jails, courts, and prosecutors.
Key features and capabilities of the INjail platform include:
- Statewide Network: Unifies local county jails under one centralized digital database to improve information sharing across jurisdictions.
- Integrated Databases: Directly connects county facilities with state resources, including the Indiana State Police Criminal History Repository, the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), and court case management systems.
- Streamlined Operations: Eliminates data silos between law enforcement agencies, local judicial systems, and county prosecutors.
- Zero Cost to County: Fully state-developed and provided to local sheriff’s departments without drawing from county funds.
