INDIANA — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has released a new wave of safety recall notifications affecting thousands of passenger cars, electric trucks, recreational vehicles, motorcycles, and commercial trailers.
The safety notices cover a wide spectrum of defects ranging from high-voltage battery hazards and steering issues to seat belt non-compliance and fire risks.
Passenger Vehicles and Electric Trucks
Several major automakers issued recalls impacting light-duty vehicles and luxury SUVs:
- General Motors, LLC:
- High-Voltage Battery Hazard (Recall 26V494): Select 2026 Cadillac Escalade IQ, Escalade IQL, Chevrolet Silverado EV, and GMC Sierra EV models may have an improperly secured module that can damage the high-voltage battery.
- Cracked Steel Wheels (Recall 26V496): 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV models face safety risks due to steel wheels that may crack.
- Chrysler (FCA US, LLC):
- Seat Belt Anchor Failure (Recall 26V495): 2019–2026 Ram 1500 pickup trucks may feature improperly installed seat belt buckle anchors, failing federal safety standards (FMVSS 210).
- Twisting Seat Belts (Recall 26V510): 2023–2026 Alfa Romeo Tonale and 2023–2025 Dodge Hornet vehicles may feature seat belts that twist and fail to retract properly.
Motorcycles and Power Equipment
- American Honda Motor Co. (Recall 26V500): Honda is recalling select CMX300 (2017–2023, 2025–2026), CMX500 (2017–2023, 2025), and SCL500 (2025) motorcycles. A handlebar lock screw may detach and interfere with steering, increasing the risk of a crash.
Recreational Vehicles and Trailers
Multiple RV manufacturers issued recalls due to fire, carbon monoxide, and component detachment risks:
- Winnebago Industries (Recall 26V498): 2024–2025 Winnebago Ekko models face a hazard where the generator may turn on automatically without operator action. Owners are advised to park outside until repaired.
- Escape Trailer Industries (Recall 26V505): 2025–2026 Escape 13 travel trailers may have insufficient ventilation, allowing dangerous levels of carbon monoxide to build up inside.
- Forest River, Inc. (Recall 26V503): 2027 Freelander and Leprechaun RVs may lack proper overcurrent protection for the house battery.
- Brinkley RV (Recall 26V499): 2027 Model I units are being recalled because the exterior ladder may detach.
- Midwest Industries, Inc. (Recall 26V480): 2027 Yamaha Boat Trailers are subject to recall due to trailer tongues that may fail.
Commercial Vehicles and Industrial Equipment
- Mack Trucks, Inc. (Recall 26V509): 2025 TerraPro (TE) trucks are recalled for loose steering gearbox fasteners.
- Rosenbauer America (Recall 26V504): 2024–2025 Commander and 2026 Commercial HV507 and M2-106 fire apparatus models may experience touch screen display failures.
- Wabash National Corp. (Recall 26V506): 2027 Van Trailers feature an antilock malfunction indicator light that is improperly labeled under FMVSS 121.
- Alamo Group Inc. (Recall 26V502): 2022–2026 Royal Truck & Equipment Traffic Control Vehicles may have solar panels that partially detach.
- Wanco, Inc. (Recall 26V497): 2025–2026 Wanco Compact Light Towers feature fuel tanks that may crack and leak.
