PORTER COUNTY – Troopers with the Indiana State Police Toll Road Post are investigating a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle that occurred near mile marker 25 on the Indiana Toll Road. Indiana State Police Region VI Dispatch began receiving calls of this crash at approximately 4:28 a.m. CST.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Alvin Best indicates that a gray 2024 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling eastbound near mile marker 25 when it left the roadway to the right, hitting the guardrail face. The male operator of the Yamaha was ejected from the motorcycle and discovered approximately 144 feet from where it initially impacted the guardrail. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The motorcycle is believed to have stayed upright and came to rest on the inside shoulder of the eastbound lanes approximately 1,000 feet from where it impacted the guardrail.
Speed and alcohol are considered to be factors in this crash.
Eastbound lanes were closed for investigation of this crash and reopened at approximately 6:57 a.m. CST. The Porter County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the driver pending family notification.Â
Troopers from the Toll Road Post were assisted by troopers from the Indiana State Police Lowell Post, Portage Fire and EMS, the Porter County Coroner’s Office, and Double T Towing.
