BEDFORD — Paving on Stumphole Bridge Road is now officially complete, according to an update released by Lawrence County Highway Superintendent Brian Sowder.
With that project wrapped up, county highway crews are shifting focus to several other paving, culvert installation, and chip-and-seal projects across Lawrence County this week.
Drivers in the area should take note of the following schedules, potential delays, and temporary road closures:
- West Powerline Road: Paving operations are scheduled to take place July 29–30. Motorists should expect active work zones and intermittent traffic slowdowns.
- Dunn Bridge Road: Crews are installing a culvert near 2150 Dunn Bridge Road, located just east of Meadows Church Road. The road is temporarily closed to through traffic during installation but is expected to reopen later this afternoon.
- Boone Hollow Road: On Friday, July 31, work will take place west of Armstrong Station to pave the bridge approaches and smooth out bumps across the new bridge overlay. The road will be closed to traffic starting at 7:30 a.m. and is expected to fully reopen before Noon.
- Spencer Pike and Old Farm Road: Chip-and-seal operations are underway on both roads throughout the week. Crews are working one lane at a time, keeping the roads open, but drivers should prepare for temporary delays.
The Lawrence County Highway Department advises all motorists to slow down, exercise caution, and stay alert for crew members and heavy equipment when traveling through active work zones.
