Thomas Paul Maurer, 83, of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at IU Health Bedford Hospital.
Born January 14, 1943, in Canton, Ohio, he was the son of Paul and Josephine Egler Maurer. Thomas married Katherine Brewer on July 18, 1970, in Canton, Ohio, and they shared 56 years together. He was a Regional Retail Manager at Kmart for 30 yrs, then later owned and operated Toby’s Donuts and worked as a building manager at IU, retiring in 2021.
Tom loved riding his motorcycle and was an avid animal lover. He loved his cats and feeding the birds. Tom spent many winters as a snowbird in Florida, where he was known as “Scooter Tom”.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy of Bedford; two daughters, Brooke Maurer and wife Emily Weber of San Diego, CA, Morgan Anderson and husband Matthew of Fishers; three grandchildren, Brewer, Grayson, and Cohen Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
