Logansport Babe Ruth League president and treasurer arrested on felony theft charges

LOGANSPORT A state police investigation into missing funds from a Cass County youth baseball program has resulted in felony charges against the organization’s top leadership.

The Indiana State Police Peru District announced that 45-year-old Christopher Shank, president of the Logansport Babe Ruth League, and 44-year-old Erica Huddleston, the league’s treasurer, have both been charged in connection with an ongoing theft probe.

State police investigators opened a formal inquiry into the league’s financial records in June 2026 after receiving allegations of financial misconduct within the youth sports organization.

Over the course of the multi-week investigation, detectives determined that Shank and Huddleston allegedly misappropriated approximately $2,000 in league funds over several months.

Following the conclusion of the probe, state police submitted their findings to the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office for formal review.

Upon reviewing the evidence, prosecutors officially filed criminal charges against both league officials. Shank and Huddleston each face one count of theft, classified as a Level 6 felony under Indiana law.

Following the issuance of formal arrest warrants, both Shank and Huddleston surrendered themselves to custody at the Cass County Sheriff’s Office without incident.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty through a fair and due legal process. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
