F. Marilyn (Sorrells) Hardwick, 96, of Shoals, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at her residence.
Born May 23, 1930, in Shoals, she was the daughter of Oscar and Bernice (Harner) Sorrells. Marilyn was a graduate of Shoals High School in the class of 1948. She married William “Bill” Hardwick on May 5, 1948, and he preceded her in death on September 12, 2006.
Marilyn was a homemaker and cake baker. She was a member of Sampson Hill Bible Church.
Marilyn enjoyed baking, playing bingo, and spending time with her family.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Billye (Alan) Borders, Philip (Ann) Hardwick, Melynda Howell, and Mark Hardwick; grandchildren, Renee (Mike) Wiggington, Brock (Erin) Borders, Bart Borders, Aaron (Tonya) Hardwick, Ryan (Sara) Hardwick, Kris (Kristen) Howell, Mendy (Mason) Morrison, Samantha (James) Crook, Caryn (Donnie) Fishburn, Emilye (Devonta) Casteel, and Katye (Nathan) Clark; 38 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; grandchildren, Brent Borders and Amy Emery; son-in-law, Ray Howell; and siblings, Jean Edwards, Wilma Qualkenbush, and two in infancy.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care, 431 High Street, Shoals, with Kris Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, until the service hour at the Queen-Lee Chapel, Shoals.
